The Women’s 100 Miler Project Grant
About the Grant
The Women's 100 Miler Project Grant aims to empower a female runner by offering financial support to go towards race entry and associated travel expenses for a race that is at least 100 miles in distance. This initiative is designed to lower barriers to participation and nurture a supportive community that encourages women to pursue their 100 miler goals.
We recognize that running a 100 miler race requires not only intense preparation, but also significant financial investment. From high race registration fees to the costs of travel, these mounting expenses can be daunting and potentially discourage women from pursuing their dream race. Our grant is here to help ensure that financial hurdles don't prevent the deserving recipient from experiencing the growth and achievements that come with completing a bucket list 100-mile or 100-mile-plus race.
Through this initiative, we hope to foster a growing community of female ultra-runners who not only challenge their own limits but also inspire future generations of women in the sport. By alleviating financial burdens and enhancing inclusivity, we aim to see more women at the starting lines.
Donations to the fund are greatly appreciated as they directly contribute to sustaining this grant and supporting more women in their 100 miler journeys.
2025 Grant Cycle Update
We have raised our minimum funds to do the grant this year, though we’d still like to raise more and are still accepting donations!
Applications for the 2026 Women’s 100 Miler Project Grant will open at the end of June, 2025, and close in early July, 2025. This year’s grant will support one woman-identifying runner with a minimum of $1,600 toward a 100-mile (or longer) race, of her choosing, taking place in 2026. The funds may be used for race entry fees, travel, and other race-related expenses, including running gear.
In addition to financial support, the recipient will receive free individual coaching from established ultrarunner, our project coach, Lee Conner, who has completed over sixty 100-milers. Coaching will begin when the recipient is selected and continue through race day.
Here’s how the 2025 selection process will work:
Those interested can submit an application when the window opens
Finlists will be contacted in early August and be given a prompt for a video submission so we can get to know them better.
WHMP may select the grant recipient based on these videos, or we may move forward with a final round that includes live video interviews if needed.
The recipient will be announced in September 2025.
